Booking channel codes are unique identifiers assigned to different booking channels through which guests can make reservations at a hotel. These codes help hotels track and manage reservations coming from various sources such as online travel agencies (OTAs), direct bookings, corporate bookings, etc.

Setup Channel Codes

To access this menu, follow these steps:

  1. open the 'Hotel Management' tab;
  2. click on the 'Configuration' tab;
  3. 2. select 'Channel Codes' from the list in the 'Reservation Settings' section.

How to create a new Channel Code

Click the 'New' button in the top left corner to create a new record - a new row appears:

  1. 'Name' - provide the name of the channel code;
  2. 'Code' - please provide a brief name (include a unique brief name).

Each booking channel will have its unique code that can be used to identify the source of the reservation.

How to modify Channel Codes

1. To modify a record, just click on the corresponding line and make all necessary adjustments on the room number record;

If a Channel Code is already used in at least one reservation - it's not allowed to delete this code, the user can only archive it instead.

3. To duplicate a record, click on the checkbox in the corresponding line -> Actions -> Duplicate.

Why Channel Codes are needed

Using channel codes in a hotel is essential for the effective management of bookings and reservations. By utilizing channel codes, hotels can analyze booking patterns, target marketing efforts, and optimize revenue strategies. This allows hotels to better understand their business performance and make informed decisions to maximize occupancy and revenue.

Here are a few examples of the most commonly used channel codes in the hotel industry:

  1. Direct Booking (DIR): Reservations are made directly through the hotel's website or by calling the hotel directly;
  2. Global Distribution System (GDS): Reservations made through online travel agencies (OTAs) such as Expedia, Booking.com, or Travelocity;
  3. Online Travel Agency (OTA): Reservations made through online travel agencies;
  4. Central Reservation System (CRS): Reservations are made through the hotel's central reservation system.

These are just a few examples of the most commonly used channel codes in the hotel industry. Each hotel may have its specific codes or variations based on its distribution strategy.

In our system, it is possible to sort reservations by a certain channel code to collect relevant statistics and, if necessary, this information can be exported as an Excel file.
